About Us:

The department of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture has been created to act as the Nodal Department for the promotion, formulation, and implementation of policies and programs for the welfare and all-round development of the people of Assam. The department came into being with effect from 30th July 2021.

The department shall be responsible for activities that promote the Indigenous Faith and Culture of Assam. The department plans to adopt various activities such as the compilation of books pertaining to Indigenous Faith and Culture, making them available in academic libraries/digital libraries, podcasting/vodcasting, etc.

The department shall also ensure the provision of adequate funds under various schemes, programs for the holistic activities in the protection and preservation of indigenous tribes of the state.

4. Superintendent- 1 nos

5. Sr. Administrative assistant-2 nos

6. Jr. Administrative assistant- 3 nos

7. Grade IV- 1nos

Four Directorates are functioning under the department. Namely :

1. Directorate of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture (ITFC)

2. Directorate of Archaeology (DOA)

3. Directorate of Museums (DOM)

4. Directorate of Historical and Antiquarian Studies (DHAS)
